Overview

Keep a child or loved one safe is always family member’s first concern. For individuals living with autism, who may be more vulnerable to victimization and neglect, it’s even more of a priority and should be for all community members. This session will discuss what has been transpiring and how to be work to prevent such incidents. Attendees will also learn how to utilize IEPs, IPOSs, as well as medical directives to ensure choice and appropriate supports are in place to assist individuals and families.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER​

Nicholas Gammicchia

Andrew and Nicholas Gammicchia have been training first responders and others on this topic for almost two decades. With 35 years of experience in law enforcement, Andrew has seen experienced this topic from both sides of the coin to provide an appropriate response as well as be appropriately prepared. Nicholas, a very active self-advocate, has amazing insights on how to not only respond to assist individuals with ASD who have been victims of crime, but also how to stay safe to prevent such occurrences.
